The sun was shining brightly on the small beach, somewhere on the west coast of Australia. It was the height of summer on the southern continent and Gadget Hackwrench couldn't have been happier. The small Mouse girl pulled her trademark goggles over her eyes as she eyed the pristine beach and languid surf. Gadget and the other Rescue Rangers had been visiting Monterey Jack's family for the past two weeks, today was the last day of said visit, and Gadget was intent on soaking up as much sun as she could before heading home.
Chip, Dale, Monty and Zipper were off in the distance building sandcastles and while they did that Gadget wanted to try out her home made metal detector. After carefully unpacking her equipment Gadget plugged her headphones into the metal detector hearing a faint clicking as she moved the detector over the wet sand. Wasting no time Gadget set out along the beach, waving the metal detector as she went. As she walked Gadget began to lose herself in her thoughts, when she and the other Rangers were on duty she was either sleeping, inventing, or adventuring, it was nice to have an afternoon to herself with nothing to do bug dig up treasures from beneath the sand. At just that moment the metal detector began emitting a high pitched whine, Gadget smiled at she set the detector to the side and began digging into the sand with her hands.
Gadget dug, and dug, a pile of sand lay by the side of her hole and soon enough the hole was deep enough to cover her down to her shoulders and still she dug concentrating only on her task. Unbeknownst to the busy mouse an Egret had noticed her digging and was intently watching her work, The two foot tall predatory bird had never seen a creature that looked quite like Gadget and as it watched her it was trying to decide whether or not she was prey. Wanting a closer look at the sand chucking mouse girl the Egret slowly walked towards the sand pit, stopping only as it towered over Gadget it's shadow blocking out the sun. Before Gadget could turn to see what had blotted out the sun the Egret plucked her into the air, having grabbed the mouse by the scruff of her jumpsuit the Egret could clearly see what she was, a morsel.
Gadget screamed as she was lifted into the air, the last thing she expected was to be picked up by her jumpsuit. Turning her head as she was held in the air Gadget could clearly see the thing that had picked her up. Tall and slender the Egret looked somewhat like a stork, though more streamlined. The Egret's feathers were a snowy white color, contrasting deeply with it's slender black beak and equally slender black legs. Two long plume feathers extended sleekly from the back of it's head and it's incredibly long neck was bent up into a sort of S shape.
Seeing fully the bird that had hoisted her into the air Gadget knew immediately what it wanted, The Egret wanted nothing more than to fill it's belly full of mouse girl. Gadget on the other hand wanted nothing more than to run away, knowing full well that the Egret would never willingly give her the chance. Frightened now of what the Egret wanted to do Gadget thrashed and squirmed in the bird's grip, hoping to slip from it's beak, if she made it to the sand she could make a run for it. With a sudden flit of it's head the Egret threw the hapless mouse girl high into the air, her body spinning as it rose.
Adrenaline pumped it's way through Gadget's system as she rose through the air. Turning over as she reached the apex of her flight Gadget saw the Bird's open mouth waiting patiently for her to fall into it. Gadget's mind screamed as she fell, but her throat was deathly silent, in a sudden instinctual move Gadget curled up as tightly as she could into a ball. With a loud "Plap!" Gadget fell onto the waiting tongue of the Egret and with a somewhat quieter "Klak!" the Egret closed it's beak and the mouse girl within.
Sealed in total darkness Gadget's heart felt like it would beat out of her chest, her entire body was covered in sticky bird saliva and the tongue beneath her pulsed slightly. The entire Mouth, was in a word fishy, the scent of fish strong in the bird's saliva clung to everything. With each passing second Gadget half expected the dreaded swallow. As Gadget felt the Bird's mouth shift vertically she let out a weak whimper.
Raising it's head skyward, the Bird straightened out it's neck before swallowing powerfully, the lump that was the mouse girl traveled nearly an inch before catching in the throat. The Egret was used to swallowing slender, slippery fish, that slid down easily the mouse girl it seemed had curled up into a ball and was wiggling continuously making swallowing somewhat more difficult. The bird's neck bulged as he swallowed, feathers splaying out oddly as the mouse passed downwards. Swallowing again the Egret felt the mouse slide another inch and a half towards it's stomach. Again and again the Egret swallowed and each time Gadget would slide another inch downwards before catching. Finally after a particularly powerful gulp the bird felt the girl pass noisily into his stomach.
As the Egret tilted his head back Gadget tumbled backwards and with the sound of s thunderous "GULP!" she slid into the throat. Gadget's ride down the throat was less than pleasant, constricted from all sides the mouse girl was covered entirely in saliva, the heat of the flesh around her was almost oppressive and to make things worse there was almost no air to breathe. Furthermore it seemed that the bird was having some trouble swallowing her. Gadget would hear the bird swallow, and the muscle around her would pulsate and she would be pushed a little further down. Twelve times the bird swallowed before Gadget felt her body exit the tight throat and enter the slightly less tight stomach. With a splash Gadget fell into the stomach an exhausted "Golly!" escaping her mouth as she landed.
The inside of the stomach was pitch dark and stank strongly of fish. While roomier than the throat had been Gadget found it impossible to stand up, in an upright sitting position the tops of her ears and head scraped the roof. Occasionally the walls of the stomach would compress inwards, crushing Gadget inwards for several moments before relaxing again. Wanting nothing more than to be outside the fleshy, fishy smelling cage Gadget struggled, punching, kicking screaming at the top her her lungs but nothing she did seemed to have any sort of impact.
His hunger sated for the time being the Egret could feel the mouse within him wriggle and move, her movements tickling him slightly. Preparing to take off the Egret tested his wings with a few experimental flaps and after several moments his body left the ground. Now high above the ground the bird flew lazily inland heading towards it's cliffside nest.
