Here in the Russian-speaking space a number of religion-like schools exist. I do not sure but possibly Gadget-religion is a russian priority. At least I had not heared about something like this in the English-speaking part of community. Some of this cults are just jokes but another are dreadfully serious.
Oldest one is Gadget Ortodox Religion by KOH from konorama.ru
Next is a number of theories from ru_gae4ka.livejournal.com where ideas of "Gadget as knight's Lady to serve to" and "Gadget and Khtulhu alchemical marriage in the end of times" where appeared. These theories gave start another schools like Enlightenment Book or vk.com groups cults and so on. The history of gadget religion in common is already more than ten years and it still alive.
The common point for all religions is: Gadget is a Goddess. Two main branches are: Egregore theory and Avatar theory. Egregore theory in rough believes Gadget-Goddess "eats" fan's adoration and live while someone remember Gadget and love her. Avatar theory says Gadget-toon character is just an avatar of some (possibly big and old) spirit or entity of the specific nature. Details may vary from one school to another so you may choose or found you own. :D For example some people thinks Gadget-egregore likes only clean fan-art and other thinks Gadget get "energy" of some kind from any stuff even from ugliest porno-art and so on.
And of course many people dislike "cultists" and do not believe into such things ever.

Some of you people seem to be deeply involved with this :D I wasn't expecting that you have even different schools in Gadget religion!

Oh, and you know what? She made me pick up a pencil and draw her. I have never ever ever drawn anything so this is totally new for me. These are my first ones and I'm just learning how to draw her. So far I haven't tried to draw her body, just starting to figure out how to do it.

But I'm not completely happy with these. It's something with her eyes I guess.. it feels like they are lacking some sort of "natural" look? I just can't pinpoint what it is exactly, so I'd love to hear constructive feedback from more experienced artists here!

I think I'm slowly getting some sort of hang of this. Still need to practise a lot though.

OK, I checked the picture from the backside. I think I noticed at least one thing. Her hips seem to be misaligned in relation to the upper half of the torso. If I visualize the spinal column going trough all the way from neck to down, the pelvis/hips are "off the line" to the left.

I noticed my 10 year old flatbed scanner is really really shitty. No matter what settings I use, it just doesn't pick up most of the shading I used.

Well, I don't wanna draw too much "sad" emotions. But that's just a personal preference.

I like to try different expressions, to learn how to draw them. Also, drawing her smiling all the time would be bit boring.

Some expressions are harder than other. For example, I've had some trouble trying to make her look like she's thinking really hard. Not like >>60, but more "concentrated" look.

The previous picture was just for trying out shading (wich failed to show in the scanned image), there was no specific idea or theme behind it.

It is not free (as GIMP) but cheaper then PS. It is a bit old but still better then GIMP. I have not use PS for many-many years so IDK, can't compare.
It has perfect vector "inking" layers to work with mouse. Indeed it is really good for mouse.
The only serious lack for me: it is for Windows and Linux version is not expected.

Traced this picture >>101, which was quite easy even with mouse. Cool thing is that it's a vector paint program - the graphics are scalable. However the paint fill tool has some kind of bug which caused numerous crashes when I tried to paint it. With this current version finishing the image is pretty much impossible (because of the bug).

I hope in future versions it'll be repaired. InkScape has potential, but still apparently bit unfinished in some areas... but hey, it's free!

By the way, about the picture>>101 Figure generally pleasing, shows the mood and Gadget looks correct (given the author's style). But the tail is in the wrong position. Now he is from the left buttock, but shall be between them, from the sacrum. However, this does not prevent me to say: so cute! :)

Oh yeah, I noticed that only after you mentioned it :) I have found it's quite hard to place anatomical features correctly when the character is at oblique angle relative to viewer. Arms and shoulders are especially difficult...

OK, so here's my first try doing digital coloring. Took a long time because I had to learn how to do stuff in Krita. The outlines look bit weird with that white "glow", I guess because paint fill tool is maybe not the right way of coloring. Definitely have to buy that tablet so that editing is easier.

So I finally bought the tablet today, Wacom Intuos Pen. Cost only 69 € at local store (about 3300 rubles). Was very hard to get used to first, now getting easier though.

Below will be a kind of trip-report, the small part of them which was devoted to meditation on Gadget portret.
I had a pack of Gadget fanart with me and this meditation was a main aim of the trip. For this I went on nature last Saturday and eat some medicine to make me to necessary condition. A note about effect which hallucinogens have on the perception. Beside other it is visual effects. When relaxed contemplation the image you seeing stands alive, flowy and moving. Under the medicine you stands more sensitive to picture's defects: improper forms or weak halftones. Artist's errors jump in the eyes. In other hand pictures acquire depth and volume. The same thing with Gadget's pics. And there are two ways which the specific picture can manifest itself. One of them "gathering". The eye and brain searches for the "correct" place for lines and colors. So the picture gets the perfect form. Other way is when the picture falls to pieces. Ears, nose, eyes, cheeks start live its own life and the picture turns into mess of unrelated lines and blots. Another effect is the sort of "light" or "brightness" which picture can start to emmanate. Some of them is dead. It is just a picture. Other ones are like under thick dusty glass but still have some warm. And there are those which glowes or even shines with light.
Well.. Beside others I had a >>163 Oh man, she is alive! May be it was caused by number of slight defects of drawing but her face was fully alive as if it would be natural Gadget. She smiles, looks at me, winks and looks with a dozen of different emotions. And she almost dances and shines, shines with dazzling white color. So thank you for this moments! ^_^
